lyrics

There’s an old woman who sits by a hearth

I asked her to show me what she’s got

Sold me wares and she had a deck of cards

“Draw your tarot but don’t expect to get too far”

Said she can’t predict a future with a past too bleak

Only choices we make help us climb the next peak

Said the woman sitting by her hearth

“Draw a tarot but don’t expect to get too far”
Leaving town passing through the next

Lost in that desert, surrounded by old friends

I’ll take my time the horse he treads in slow

The townsfolk cry, “We hate to see you go”

Said a woman who once sat by her hearth

Bartered and Received my fate a permanent lock

I’ll remember this when I’ve run out of luck

Still have the wares but was she ever really there?

Drew the tarot and I’ve gone too far

Drew the tarot and I’ve gone too far
